The regular empowerment programmes that is usually done fortnightly by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rotimi Makinde climaxed on Saturday as hundreds of market women in Ile-Ife benefited from the kind gesture of one of the illustrious sons of the ancient town.
The beneficiaries who had stormed Makinde’s residence situated at Opposite Diganga Hotel, Ife-Ibadan road, Ile Ife could not hide their joy as they showered prayers and accolades on him.
The programme tagged “Touching Life’s No Matter How Small It Is,” with the prime motive of empowering at least five market women forthnigtly has been empowering women with cash to assist them in their small scale businesses and to keep body and soul together.
This has been happening for several months ago and the number of attendance keeps increasing at every fortnight meeting.
This humanitarian gesture is not only commendable but also a way of get more closer and identifying with the downtrodden/grassroots dwellers by feeling their pains directly and making attempt to alleviate their poverty status within his limited resources.
The attendance at the last weekend event was indeed beyond expectation as the number was close to 1000 market women/men and everyone attendant went home with cash.
Rains of prayers and appreciation were showered on Hon. Makinde for this life-touching initiative despite not occupying any political office presently.
Meanwhile, Hon. Makinde promised to take the programme beyond party line which would be free for all in as much they reside in Ife.
