How I Was Nearly Assassinated While I Was Chief Of Staff’ – Wike Slams Buhari

River State Governor, Nyesom Wike  has claimed how he was nearly assassinated in 2007 while serving as Chief of Staff to former Governor Chibuike Amaechi.

The Governor, who is running for President under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also criticized President Muhammadu Buhari and others who helped him gain power in 2015, calling the existing system a failure.

Wike claimed that President Buhari’s purported failure was due to people banding together and giving him authority even when he was not ready to serve the country, claiming that it was inappropriate for anyone to be given power on a silver platter, particularly when it came to presidential power.

“If I recall correctly, I was nearly assassinated on December 3rd, 2007,” Wike revealed in an interview with Channels Television.

“Even at that time, I was a menace to myself… I’ve never stated I want it served on a golden platter! In truth, giving people things on a gold platter doesn’t work very well. No one is given power. Nobody is going to hand you the presidency on a silver platter.

“Take President Buhari, for example. People were chanting, ‘Give it to him, give it to him, he’s the savior,’ and now look what happened.
