Housewife Lands In Osun Court For Fighting Landlord Over Radio Volume

The Osun State Police Command has dragged a 27-year-old housewife, Kike Adetunji, before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting and injuring her landlord.

The Police Prosecutor, Olayiwola Razaq told the court that the accused fought with her landlord, Mukaila Kazeem, when he asked her to reduce the volume on the radio she was playing in her apartment.

He disclosed that the accused person committed the offence on May 27, 2021 around 6:30 am at Ago-Ayo area in Osogbo.

According to the prosecutor, the landlord complained that the sound of the music was too loud and disturbing others.

He said the complaint enraged the accused person who later assaulted and stoned the complainant during an argument that broke out between the two of them.

He said the accused person conducted herself in a manner that caused a breach of peace in the neighbourhood, noting that the accused person inflicted a head injury on her landlord.

The offence committed contravened and is punishable under Sections 355 and 249 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

When the two count charges were read to the accused person, hr, however, pleaded not guilty.

Her defence counsel, Mr Kehinde Adepoju, applied for her bail in most liberal terms.

While ruling, the Magistrate, A. A. Adeyeba, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in the like sum.

The Magistrate said the surety should be a blood relation to the accused person and must furnish the court with evidence of three years tax payment.

The case was adjourned till July 8 for mentioning.
