A member of Osun House of Assembly, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, says development of rural communities through empowerment will go a long way to alleviate poverty in the society
Oyintiloye , who is the House Committee Chairman on Information and Strategy made the remarks during an empowerment programme he organised for farmers, Artisans, widow and aged on Wednesday at Ilare-Ijesa in Obokun East Local Council Development Area.
The lawmaker said no amount of support is little to move people from one level of vulnerability to another stressing that contributing positively to the development of his immediate constituency was his priority.
“No matter the economic challenges, I will continue to strive to give back to the people who have reposed their confidence in him and elected as their representative.”
Oyintiloye (APC-Obokun State Constituency) said the empowerment programme was in line with Governor, Rauf Aregbesola commitment to agriculture as well as improving the living standard of the people.
While commending the electorate for their support, Oyintiloye said he would continue to make himself available at all time.
Over 158 farmers were given farm inputs such as cutlasses, sprayers, herbicides, among others.
Also, more than 62 widows as well as 93 aged were empowered with money and clothing.
While 358 artisans were empowered with various working tools.
In his remarks, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Obokun East LCDA, Mr Ismaila Kehinde , commended the lawmaker for his good gesture to the people at his constituency.
The former Secretary of Obokun Local Government, Mr Gbola Oguntoye, also urged the lawmaker to continue the good work.
The Owalare of Ilare-Ijesa, Oba Emmanuel Otebolaku, also commended the lawmaker for the gesture.
Oba Otebolaku said the empowerment programme would have a lasting impact in the life of the people.
