Hon. Adekunle Olaniyan Seeks Govt Intervention In Portable Water Supply In his Constituency
A candidate for House of Assembly on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Adekunle Taofeek Olaniyan has called on the state government and Olorunda local government Chairman to rehabilitate existing boreholes within the local government as dry season is fast approaching.
Stressing on the needs to provides suitable water supplies for his Constituency he hinted that it will help to improve the hygiene of people living in the area.
Hon. Olaniyan on Wednesday called on the Chairman of the local government and state house of Assembly member representing local government to partner with the state government and come to the aide of the people of Olorunda local government in boosting water supply.
The Reps Candidate made the call at a town hall meeting in Osogbo, the capital state of Osun.
While expressing worries over the stress people are going through before they have access to water He noted that the lack of access to portable water had made individuals to seek alternative water sources, some of which were not hygienic to humans.
“At the moment, most of our borehole water supply schemes, some of which were inherited from the past governments, have become old and inadequate in their capacities to meet the ever increasing population and water demand”
“Some of the boreholes have virtually collapsed, while others are in a terrible state of disrepair, as reflected in the documentary earlier shown to members at this meeting,’’ he said.
According to him, it was saddening that in spite of the huge amount of money Aregbesola’s government claimed to have spent over the years to rehabilitate and upgrade some of the water schemes, there were still many more schemes awaiting attention.
He then told people of the council area to be rest assure that he will use his good office to facilitate portable water for people’s use if elected as house of Assembly member from the local government.
