Heavy rainfalls Destroy Ekiti Schools As Students Hold Class Under Trees (See Photos)

What should be a blessing to the agrarian communities of Emotions state turned out to be a disaster, as Many secondary schools in Ekiti state are now groaning under the heavy loss suffered as a result of heavy rainlfall

According to Amiloaded team that visited some of the schools, the affected places included AUD Grammar School, Ado Ekiti,  St Louis secondary school and Annunciation schools ikere Ekiti

At AUD in Ado, the storm completely removed the roof of a block of classroom and slammed it on another building at the neighboring State Ministry of Works

The development compelled Teachers and Students to take solace in the available classrooms and under the trees in the schools

Many valuables documents and teaching materials were lost to the incident as confirmed by some of the affected teachers who claimed anonymity

Speaking in the development, the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools ASUSS in Ekiti state, Comrade Sola Adigun described the incident as natural, but an unfortunate occurrence in the schools which were crying for help

Comrade Adigun appealed to the State Government to to urgently intervene in the given the huge resources that would be required to fix the damaged buildings and materials

He also called on Alumni Associations of the schools and public spirited individuals to assist the institutions

The ASUSS chairman observed that until such intervention was secured, teaching and learning activities in the schools would largely hindered.
