Secretary-General, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Silas Adamu, died on Monday in a road accident along with his wife, Mercy and daughter, Kubai Joy.
This was revealed to AMILOADED in a statement on Tuesday by the media consultant of the union, Jack Lampang, on behalf of the president of the union, Biobelemoye Joy Josiah.
He said the accident occurred along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
The statement reads partly: “The union has indeed lost an illustrious son, a patriot, a nationalist and detribalised figure whose friendship and association cut across ethnic and religious lines.
“He remained passionate about the unity and development of the union until he died. He always advocated for education and investment in human capital as fundamentals for our advancement into a peaceful and prosperous union.”
Adamu joined the service of the union on August 1, 2000, as Principal Organizing Secretary and rose to become the Secretary-General in September 2015.
