Group lifts widows in Osun, launches free health care

In a bid to alleviate poverty and clean the community of illness, a socio-elites forum, Ileogbo Development Forum (IDF) has empowered widows and launched a free medical health care for the residents of Ileogbo, the headquarters of Ayedire Local Government, Osun State.

The free diagnose and medication was initiated to promote healthy and wealthy society among the populace of the town. The programme was facilitated by a member of the forum, Dr. (Mrs.) Teju Ogunrinde in registration of her patriotism to her community.

3 widows selected were awarded #50,000 each to promote their private business and subsequently improve their standard of living.  The three beneficiaries were a shoe maker/cobbler, Mrs. Amusan Adenike, Mrs. Aliu Sekinat (Knitter) and Mrs. Oseni Mojirayo (Soap maker) from Age, Agbokere and Idiape compounds respectively. Each was empowered with #25,000 while the rest balance will be released after assessment of the utilization of the capital.

The free health was restricted to free test and treatment for hypertension and diabetics. The outreach earlier scheduled for 50 beneficiaries was increased to 84 as number of patients multiplied. Health advice related to individual issue were offered to forestall unhealthy living.

Reiterating the imperative for healthy living, Dr. Ogunrinde described sound health as prerequisite to wealth. According to her, the best gift of life is sound health. And as our father used to say that “Health is wealth”. It is a tested fact as only a healthy soul has the capability to run for daily needs. It is in registration of this that the free health care and widows` empowerment is launched as part of our little contribution to the community that produced us”.

“Each widow is empowered with #50,000. But #25,000 was released today and the balance will be given after appropriate evaluation of the first payment. I implored the beneficiaries to convert their challenge as the sole bred-winner of the family to advantage by utilize the privilege judiciously” Dr. Ogunrinde.

The donor assured beneficiaries of free medical care for months and equally donated medical equipment to health centres in Ileogbo for the benefit of patients.
