The ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention may produce a woman with questionable character as the party’s National Women Leader, findings has revealed.
Sources have it that Hajia Salamatu Eluma, who have corruption cases hanging on her neck and who was part of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) looting spree was being sponsored by enemies of the party for the position of APC National Women leader.
Reliable sources have fingered Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and the wife of the President Aisha Buhari , as those backing the aspirant.
It was gathered that in an attempt to smear the image of the party known for fighting corruption, some elements in the party were hell bent on destroying the party.
Investigation also revealed that as part of smart move to destroy the image of APC, some people are secretly pushing to install the said Salamatu , whose records were famously tied to corruption issues.
Source maintained that her records were unpleasant and would put APC in bad light if she emerges the party women leader.
Reacting on the clearance of Salamatu by the party, a member of the party who is aware of the situation and spoke on condition of anonymity , said the attempt to install her as women leader of the party would fail.
He said , ” She was involved in act of insubordination when she was at FAAN, another allegation of Fraud and Kidnap attempt were also levelled against her
“Hajiya Salamatu Umar Eluma’s antecedent is no doubt an odium that must be condemned.
“Such a woman with an execrated past should not even come close to thought of leading Nigerian women who are known for moral plausibility”, he said.
Another member of the party said said Salamatu Umar Eluma scandal at FAAN scandal would made it difficult for her to be the new face of Women in an anti-corruption war.
“The question on many lips is why would APC want to settle for someone whose name is all over the Internet for corruption related cases and gross insubordination to her Boss?
“This cannot not be possible”.
Observers, however, said that there was no doubt that those clamouring for her to take over the job of the party’s National Women Leader have not read the various publications and considered the implication of having such a person as a National Leader of the party.
