Imediate past President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,GCFR, has endorsed the proposed #AFRICA2020- #ONEUNITEDAFRICA project and it’s broad initiatives which seek to end hostilities among Africans.

Jonathan commended the brain behind the initiative and emphasised the need for Africans to leave in peace and accommodate one another.

The former President, according to a statement issued by ‘Lanre Aribisala, the

Director, Public Communication, #AFRICA2020- #ONEUNITEDAFRICA, made this known while receiving a delegation from the organisers, #ONEUNITEDAFRICA led by Congressman Bimbo Daramola in his Abuja office.

The project is being articulated to commence a Pan African PEOPLE TO PEOPLE awareness against the backdrop of the incessant and spreading incidents of black on black violence in Africa and the associated grave consequences, particularly the last one in South Africa which attracted condemnable retaliatory action in Nigeria.

Dr Jonathan expressed delight that the younger generation is taking off from where pioneer African statesmen left off in the reunification of brothers and kinsmen across the continent, through development of complementary initiatives in support of the hitherto well known GOVERNMENT TO GOVERNMENT bilateral and diplomatic actions.

The ex- President said no effort whatsoever should be spared to ensure that Africans across the continent and across the world, see themselves as one irrespective of the situation, urging tolerance, understanding and deep reflection on the shared history of Africans.

He lamented the September black on black violence in South Africa and the more recent flashpoints in Ghana, where Nigerian business operators were the butt of hostilities from the host country.

Dr Jonathan noted that African leaders must rise up to support this initiative, as it holds immense promise for Africa’s future, and a new chapter in promoting unity among Africans.

The statements reveals that the Africa 2020 #End to black on black violence initiatives, includes the four nation charity concert, featuring a broad coalition of African Artists from across African nations, as purveyors of peace and unity, also an #end black on black theme song, production of a world class documentary on Africa’s political evolution titled AFRICA: FROM THE PAST, THROUGH THE PRESENT , TO THE FUTURE.

It hopes also to raise VIP Ambassadors and Youth vanguard that will take the message of one united Africa deep to regular Africans on the streets, and also canvass for adoption of an #end black on black violence day in Africa by the African Union, to maintain the need to permanently keep eyes on unity and peace among Africans.

The end black on black charity concert hopes to deploy some of its proceeds to support the rehabilitation of victims by way of providing complementary support for business start-ups.

The initiative had earlier secured the gracious endorsement of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs , through the Honourable Minister, His Excellency Geoffrey Onyeama, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Foremost Pan Africanists, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR, and Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Chairman African Business Roundtable and President NEPAD Business Group.
