The candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP) for Ede North State Constituency in Osun State, Hon. Iman Adebowale, has declared his intention to join the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Hon. Adebowale made this known via a post on his Facebook page in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to him, the move to join the ruling party became necessary as the APC align with his personality with the same drive for service at the state and local level.
Hon. Adebowale stated, “Politics is seen as a game of numbers and a play of interests. Basically, it is expected that identified ideologies should define political leanings at party levels. But in Nigeria, ideologies have been eviscerated from our political culture.
“While I have always ridden on the back of great political personalities who I will always venerate, I have observed that none of them remained in one political party without moving. Until recently, I have never moved from the party I have cherished so much and worked hard in contributing to its fortunes. But personalities can influence a party for good and for bad.
“A party does not make itself, the persons in the party makes it great or otherwise. In fact, some parties lost elections at various levels, yet a person in the same party wins where the ruling party is supreme. It points to the correctness of the assertion of personality over party identity.
“After the 2019 election, I stepped back from party politics to reflect and consult my people. I have taken enough time off within and outside the shores of Nigeria and I have decided that it’s time to move into a party that my personality will align with the same drive for service at the state and local level. My people have spoken and I agree with them that indeed, it is time to join the party that has every reason to be vindictive but have been serving the interest of my community and in particular Osun State in general.
“In few days time, I will publicly join the All Progressive Congress in Osun State. It is my resolve that Gov Gboyega Oyetola is doing well and should continue to do well as our Governor for another 4 years. I will not relent in my service to Edeland. Rather, I will be in a position to do more and have the ears of the government.
“I appreciate all my supporters that have stood by me through tough and rough times. I assure you, my integrity and resolve remains impregnable.”
