Defection: You Are Greedy And Ungrateful, Esuleke Blasts Diekola

A reknow traditional priests in Osun state,  Chief Kayode Idowu Esuleke has slammed a former leader of the ruling  All Progressives Congress in the state, Alhaji Fatai Diekola for dumping the party for the major opposition party,  Peoples Democratic Party.

Esuleke accused Diekola of being an ingrate to the numerous favours and benevolence he enjoyed from Governor Rauf Aregbesola saying that Diekola left APC when he could not enjoy the usual largesse from the governor.

The popular Osun traditional priest made these known on Monday while speaking on a ‘Oro Oselu’, a Yoruba programme on Rave FM in Osogbo.

He said Diekola did not incur any ailment by working for Aregbesola as the politician claimed asking Diekola to explain where he got his alleged sickness from.

“Diekola did not get sick because of anything he did for Aregbesola. He is the one who should explain where he brought his ailment from.”

“In fact, the Governor did his best to get him quality healthcare and he was taken to different countries around the world for treatment. This ungrateful Diekola leaving the party at this time is in fact, good riddance,” he said.

Diekola had said recently (on the same radio programme) that he left the APC because the party had begun operating like a secret cult.

But reacting, Esuleke said “Diekola has decided to forget what the past was and also when he came to me and said he wanted to redeem his image. I and some other people took him to Ogbeni Aregbesola. Aregbesola didn’t know him from anywhere; he was accepted because we vouched for him”.

On the relationship between Governor Aregbesola and Fatai Diekola before the latter dumped the APC, he said “Diekola could easily be described as the Governor’s favorite and he nearly used this closeness to send away some of the Governor’s personal friends and close associates so he could enjoy all the benefits of government alone.”

“Aregbesola listens well before acting, especially to his cabinet members, and that has made him successful but as humans we can’t please everyone. This claim by Diekola that Governor Aregbesola does not take advice from anyone is false. When it was good between them, there were no bad talks because he was enjoying favors from him. But as soon as the favor reduced because there are other pressing issues of the state to attend to, that was when the complaints started”, he added.

Esuleke further stated that there is no preference for anyone in the APC and that fairness affords Ogbeni Aregbesola the opportunity to listen to all interests and take advice from all relevant quarters before making decisions that bother on the running of the State.

On the issues of zoning being agitated for by Osun West Senatorial District, he said “In APC, favors are not limited to a few zones or regions; everyone under the government enjoys their fair share of the good programmes the party has to offer. This was possible because of the capability of Ogbeni Aregbesola and that means we need a Governor who can continue the good works that the Governor started.

“This is why Aregbesola suggested that all members of the party should support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate for the September 22, 2018 Governorship election instead of fighting for whose zone should be favoured”.
