26-year-old Saliu Oladayo was handed a death sentence by an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure on Tuesday September 3, after being found guilty of killing his 19-year-old girlfriend, Confidence Ebere.
The convict was arrested by the police after stabbing Ebere to death during an argument in May 2018 at Oshinle Quarters in Akure and fleeing from the scene of the incident.
Circumstantial evidence and autopsy report revealed that “Saliu Oladayo, a secondary school leaver, stabbed the deceased on the left side of the chest and her left hand with a kitchen knife during a little misunderstanding at No 2, Dele Ojo Quarters, Akure at about 2 pm on May 15, 2018.”
Delivering judgement on the case following the arraignment of the Oladayo on a one count-charge of murder, Justice Ademola Bola said the secondary school leaver was found guilty of the offence and sentenced him to death by hanging.
