A 40-year old commercial bus driver, Suleman Lambe has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly impersonating the Nigerian police officer and uses the force uniform to rob customers withdrawing money at a bank in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect was arrested within the premises of FCMB Plc at Cele in Egbe suburbs of Lagos where he and his gang members position to monitor and rob customers coming to withdraw their money from the ATM point.
He was however apprehended when his gang reportedly disposed one Julius Olajire of N170,000 he withdrew from the bank.
Our correspondent gathered that it was not only Olajire the gang have robbed while pretending to be serving officers attached to State Anti-Robbery Sqaud, SARS.
The gang was said to have equally robbed one Toheeb Sanni of N150,000 in similar manner before he was apprehended by a police detective who arrested and handed him over to police at Ikotun division.
Other members of his gang escaped.
At the Station, Lambe reportedly confessed that he was not a member of the Nigeria Police and could not explain how he got the Police uniform.
The suspect was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court with impersonation and stealing under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will fulfill his bail.
The matter was adjouned till 26 June 2017.
