The Singapore-based developer of Islamic smartphone application Muslim Pro has reacted to allegations that it is selling the personal data of its users to the United States military.

According to a report published on Monday by an online magazine motherboard, Vice, the US military is buying private information gathered from apps around the world, including Muslim Pro, which has over 98 million downloads worldwide and features services like an online Quran library as well as a daily prayer timing schedule.

“This is incorrect and untrue. The protection and respect of the privacy of our users is Muslim Pro’s utmost priority,” said Miss Zahariah Jupary, Muslim Pro’s head of community.

While reacting via their official Twitter Account, ” Media reports are circulating that Muslim Pro has been selling personal data of its users to the US Military. This is INCORRECT and UNTRUE. Muslim Pro is committed to protecting and securing our users’ privacy. This is a matter we take very seriously.”
