Osun State government on Thursday expressed its resolve to discontinue the case of a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Saheed Akinloye, who was remanded over a Facebook post on COVID-19 cases in the state.
The State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, AMILOADED gathered, directed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Femi Akande, and Ministry of Justice to withdraw the case.
The Governor was said to have ordered the release of Akinloye.
Unconfirmed sources claimed that Akinloye had shown remorse over the allegation of inciting the people of the state against the government, of which he pleaded not guilty to in court.
Akinloye had accused the state government of importing COVID-19 patients into the state in order to get fund from the Federal Government.
An Osogbo Magistrate’s Court that he was arraigned had denied him bail and ordered his remand.
