Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adewale Akanbi narrowly escaped death when some heavily armed men attacked him.
During the melee that ensued when the monarch came under attack, one of the policemen deployed to the scene, Sergeant Ikuesan Taiwo, was not lucky, as he was axed on the head by the miscreants.
The attacker, it was further learnt, took to their heels to avoid being nabbed by the police shortly after perpetrating the act.
Narrating the incident to Amiloaed, an eyewitness said dangerous weapons such as axes, pistols, stones, sticks, charms were brandished by the youths who targeted Oba Akanbi, as the monarch prevailed on security men not to be provoked to respond despite the humiliation.
The witness said the youths, who insisted that the Oluwo cannot install Sooko, threw stones at the direction of the monarch.
However, one of the perpetrators named Saheed has been arrested by the police.
A source, who does not want to be named, alleged that the miscreants were sent by Chief Biola Ogundokun, who had been at loggerheads with Oluwo over some unreconcilable differences.
Despite the security threat, Oba Akanbi installed Prince Taofeeq Adedimeji Tadese as the pioneer Sooko of Elee Royal House of Adagunodo Ruling House.
Prior to the installation, miscreants allegedly hired by Chief Ogundokun, strategically positioned themselves with dangerous arms to stop people from coming to the venue of the installation ceremony.
According to the palace source, an elder of the town, Chief Mojirin of Iwo was also kidnapped by some angry youths at the wee hour of Wednesday reportedly for his loyalty to Oluwo.
Meanwhile, police has declared wanted those believed to be the ring leaders of the gang that attacked the monarch.
Oluwo, in a chat, appealed to security operatives to bring all the perpetrators to book and urging them not to entertain any petition from Ogundokun henceforth.
