A former Nigerian Senator, Saidu Umar Kumo is dead.
AMILOADED gathered that the Senator who represented Gombe Central Constituency at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic between May 1999- May 2003 died in the early hours of Sunday in Abuja at the age of 71 years.
The Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya confirmed the report in a message of condolence sent to AMILOADED on Sunday.
Yahaya, in the message of condolence described the late former federal lawmaker as a distinguished gentleman, astute politician, respected statesman and patriot who contributed immensely to the development of Gombe state and the nation in general.
While praying to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus, the governor added that the late politician had an impressive track record, dedication and selfless service.
He said, “On behalf of the government and people of Gombe state, I join the immediate family of the deceased as well as the entire members of the Muqaddam family in mourning the distinguished political figure who lived an exemplary life and made his marks in the political history of Gombe state and the country in general.
“Gombe state has indeed lost an illustrious son, political icon, fine parliamentarian, grassroots mobilizer and respected leader who lived a life of service to the state, Nigeria and humanity.
