Following the execution of a training programme for Religious Leaders in North Central Nigeria on the 5th of December, 2020, Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI) is organizing a dialogue session on preventing COVID-19 at places of Worship in Nigeria.
The dialogue session will feature religious leaders and policy actors who will discuss salient issues around COVID-19 and suggest actionable recommendations that will help sanitize places of worship and protect worshippers from contracting the virus while carrying out their religious activities.
During the training earlier organized by BBYDI, the religious leaders who were selected from all the states in North Central Nigeria, were trained by public health professionals on how to prevent COVID-19 and create more awareness to their followers. Following the training, the religious leaders have been actively involved in passing down the lessons learned to their followers.
These activities are in line with the agenda of BBYDI to ensure that places of worship are protected against COVID-19 and to prevent altercations and activities that could incite violence as a result of worship.
The dialogue session will hold on Saturday, 19 December 2020 by 11:00AM via Zoom Video Conferencing platform.
The session will focus on analyzing feedbacks and drawing common denominators from each state. It would assess the compliance with safety measures and the challenges encountered.
The goal of the dialogue session is to use the observations, problems, and recommendations to propose a policy framework that can be used to drive COVID-19 prevention through interfaith relations.
BBYDI is executing this project with support from International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID).
