Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in South Africa have commended the Judiciary for reaffirming the election victory of Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola.
The Court of Appeal last week voided the Election Petition Tribunal’s verdict against Oyetola’s victory in a judgment of four Justices to one.
The Diaspora APC members in a letter of congratulation addressed to the governor and signed by its Chairman Mr. Bola Babarinde and Secretary Prof. Folorunso Oludayo Fasina, said: “We the members of the APC- South Africa once again wish to felicitate with you on the validation of your mandate as the 9th Executive Governor of the State of Osun.
“The Court of Appeal verdict has now delivered a resounding judgment, a testament of the peoples’ firm believe in your leadership.
“It must be recalled that following the cumulative results of the September 22, 2018 main election and the September 27, 2018 supplementary poll, the INEC had declared you, Sir, and our great Party, the APC, as the winner of the State of Osun governorship election.
“We followed with keen interest the Tribunal split judgment of two-to-one, delivered on March 22, 2019, which nullified your victory at the poll and declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP the winner of the election.
“It is thus with a great excitement that we received the Court of Appeal judgement of May 9, 2019 which has now validate your mandate.
“We encourage you and your team to now focus on service delivery and giving people the dividends of democracy.
“In our earlier letter delivered to your office dated 08 October 2018, we have earlier assure you that we will be willing to partner with you especially in areas of agriculture, business development, infrastructural development and engineering for the upliftment of Osun State.
“The membership of the party in South Africa, especially our members from State of Osun fully support your aspiration and firm believe in you, that as the Executive Governor of State of Osun, development of human and infrastructural resources will be your watchword.”
