The Agunbe Descendants Union has organised a youth empowerment and inter-schools competition amongst the schools in Ikirun, Osun State, AMILOADED reports.
The event held at Akinorun Grammar School Hall, Ikirun, had the guest speakers delivered lectures on different topics to encourage the beneficiaries and the students.
Magistrate Ajala while speaking on youth and community advancement, advised the youths to always make good impact and spearhead good revolution.
He further admonished them to always put in effort which would earn them opportunities for leadership positions.
Lion Toyin, who spoke on the importance of giving back to the community, said the secret of living is giving, adding that giving the people what they need at a particular point in time is key.
Some of the schools which participated in the competition include Akinorun Grammar School, Orimolade Commercial Grammar School, Onaolapo Memorial High School, Holy Michael High School, African Church Grammar School, amongst others.
In the junior category, Orimolade Commercial Grammar School came first, Holy Michael High School emerged as the runner-up, while Onaolapo Memorial High School occupied the third position.
While in the senior category, Onaolapo Memorial High School came first, Holy Michael High School emerged as the runner-up, Akinorun Grammar School came third, while African Church Grammar School and Orimolade Commercial Grammar School occupied the fourth and fifth position respectively.
The empowerment was, however, held for fashion designers and cobblers in the community who are disabled or indigent to stop evil vices in the community.
