Prince Adewale Laoye, the Executive Director of Ààfin Ìlù (Palace of drum) on behalf of his father, late Oba Adetoyese Laoye, Timi of Ede 1, is setting a new standard for arts by utilizing the innovative skills of the ‘Talking drum’ to celebrate passion for black culture in the African continent.
Addressing a press conference held at Ààfin Ìlù, in Ede Osun State, Prince Adeoye said Ààfin Ìlù formally known as Rhatdrum, is an outstanding and passionate centre for the performing Arts and cultural events management.
“I am using this medium to assure fans, clients and well wishers that we are now positioned to serve you better. The services our company render include tourism, Carving, teaching of all Talking drums and their dancing steps among others.
“We are setting a new standard for Ààfin Ìlù to be the most perfect place for Students, tourist and people from all walks of life to learn about rudiments of the esteemed Yoruba/African culture and live through its attraction as a tourist centre,” Adeoye said.
Also speaking, Mr Olumide Lawal, said the centre has gone through a lot of transformation to what it is today to the glory of God.
“Our late father, the drummer Oba Adetoyese Laoye 1 put Ede in world map through his prosperity and his talking drum throughout his reign as the Timi of Ede land and, through his talking drum, he traversed Brazil, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
“To his credit, he was honoured by Queen Elizabeth and he was one of the few Obas who were honoured by the Queen when he visited Nigeria in 1968.
“It has been the grace of God to have one of his sons, Prince Adewale Laoye living up to expectations and enlightening his legacy of talking drum.
“That informed why we are having this press conference to proceed to the grand opening of this magnificent palace of drum on October 1.”
“The centre will be officially unveiled on 1st October, 2020 with my father, His Royal Majesty, Oba Munirudeen Adesola, Timi of Ede land (Royal father of the day) leading an array of dignitaries, commissioner for culture and Tourist, Dr. Bisi Obawale Simeon (Special guest), Orangun of Oke-Ila Orangun, Oba Adedokun Abolarin.
“Others expected present at the unveiling of the performing Art and cultural centre are, Senior Special Assistant, Culture and tourism, Adesoji Laoye, Chairman, House and Committee for Osun State Art and Culture, Alhaji Opeyemi among others.
