A member representing Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency of Osun State in the 9th National Assembly, Hon. Amobi Akintola Yunusa, has empowered no fewer than 500 constituents with items worth millions of Naira, AMILOADED reports.
The event held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, took place at the United Methodist Primary School, Iwo, Osun State.
The empowerment program which attracted prominent indigenes of the constituency, APC leaders, traditional rulers, market men and women, and several other stakeholders across the state and beyond, had the beneficiaries who were selected across Ayedire, Iwo and Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency went home with cars, motorcycles, deep freezers, generators, dryers, gas cylinders, sewing machines and many more.
The event saw the distribution of 13 cars, 5 tricycles, 105 new motorcycles, 53 sewing machines, 40 deep freezers, 47 generators, 47 dryers, 100 gas cylinders, 60 coolers, hundreds of sprayers and other farm equipment to the constituents.
The lawmaker also commissioned some projects and launched Ayiwola for Oyetola Campaign Movement with 5 buses.
Speaking, Hon. Amobi stated that the empowerment programme was borne out of his desire to give back to the community that made him.
The lawmaker said, “It is imperative for me to express my personal and profound appreciation to the people of Iwo, Ayedire and Olaoluwa federal constituency who have deemed it fit to recognize my candidature for the post of House of Representatives in the last election and particularly, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, State Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun as well as all leaders of our party. It has always been my desire to handsomely give back to the community from where I have also benefited.
“In the last two years, we pursued vigorously the execution of laudable programmes directed at improving the education sector in Ayiwola. Among these are over 20 classrooms, tables, chairs and several instructional materials to our people.
“In the area of agriculture, over 750 spraying machines and cartons of herbicides have been procured for farmers while medical equipment and materials were supplied to more than six comprehensive health centres and the state hospitals in Iwo.
“To further consolidate the achievement of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the road project, we have successfully tarred township roads in Kuta and Olupona. We have also distributed not less than 8 transformers with rural electrification in Bode Osi, Gbada junction and Oke Odo road in Ile Ogbo, Agbowo, Odo Ori, Ajinikirun, Mogaji and Ebu Alawe areas of Iwo and many more while over 3000 constituents have been trained on various skills acquisition programmes such as fishery, soap and bead making, dyeing and bleaching among other entrepreneurship trainings. We will continue to embark on more of this to improve the welfare of our people.”
Also speaking at the event, the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, lauded Hon. Amobi for the kind gesture which according to him would lift many beneficiaries out of poverty.
Oyetola, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Wole Oyebamiji, described the empowerment programme as a pacesetter in the history of Iwo.
He said, “This is an excellent programme in support of our administration’s efforts at improving welfare of our people contributing to societal development and alleviating poverty.
“As a government, we assure our people that all our developmental programs and policies will not stop and we shall continue to do more to take Osun to a greater height.”
There were remarks by Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, Osun APC Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun and Asiwaju of Iwo Barrister Gbadegesin Adedeji who lauded Hon. Amobi for the good gesture to people of Ayiwola constituency.
