Oyetola’s Wife Holds 2021 End Of The Year Children’s Party, Urges Women To Join Govt In Fighting Child Abuse

The wife of the Osun State Governor, Mrs. Kayafat Oyetola, has called on women in the state to join the state government in the fight against child abuse, trafficking and female genital mutilation, rape, and other forms of violence, AMILOADED reports.

The Osun First Lady made the call while speaking at the 2021 end of the year children’s party held at the Government House Grounds in Osogbo, the state capital on Thursday.

She said, “Our mothers should continue the roles of nurturing and giving directions to the children to become good citizens with high civic responsibilities.

“We should collaborate in fighting child abuse, violence against children, trafficking and female genital mutilation/cutting, rape and other forms of violence against persons.

“I urge to take special and deliberate interest in what goes on in our schools. Our show of interest would help nip in the bud, the increasing cases of sexual harassment and assault on our girls.”

Mrs. Oyetola further reiterated her readiness to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the recently passed Violence Against Persons Prohibition law (VAPP law) get implemented effectively.

She added that the law is aim to make more abundant for girls, women, and families in Osun State, saying, “We shall work at meeting these goals.”

“To our children, I congratulate you for another end-of-year ceremony and I urge you to continue to improve on your education. The future belongs to those who are educated. This is the reason why the present administration has been working very hard to get us properly prepared for the challenges.

“Let us face our studies. If you must take control of tomorrow, education is the key to doing that. Ignorance will be too costly. I have no doubt that you will make us proud. We should shun every

form of behavior which will deter us from being responsible citizens,” the Osun First Lady stated.

She, therefore, expressed her appreciation to Governor Oyetola for various projects and programs targeted at improving the standard of living of women and children in Osun State.
