PDP Crisis: State Executive Committee Affirms Sunday Bisi As Party Chairman, Condemns Adagunodo’s Action

The state executive committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has condemned the recent move by the loyalists of the Deputy National Chairman of the party, South-West, Hon Soji Adagunodo,  AMILOADED reports.

This is as the state exco of the party affirmed Hon. Sunday Bisi as the chairman of the party in the state at their meeting held at the PDP Secretariat, Biket Junction, Ikirun Road, Osogbo on Tuesday.

The executive committee, in a press statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of state party, Hon. Ayodeji Areola, condemned the action of Adagunodo for taking PDP to court without exhausting domestic remedies as provided for by the part’s constitution.

The press statement, which was read by Hon. Areola at a press conference held at the party Secretariat, the SEC started that no vacancy exists in the office of the chairman of Osun PDP warranting the purported nomination and appointments of Hon. Wale Ojo or any other person as the chairman of Osun PDP in any capacity.

The statement read, “The Chairman of the Osun State Chapter of the PDP remains Hon. Sunday Bisi, having been so appointed by the STATE EXECUTIVES COMMITTEE on 6th October, 2020 and as ratified by the NWC through a letter dated 16th October, 2020.

“That a vote of confidence be and is hereby passed on Hon. Sunday Bisi as the Chairman of Osun PDP.

“That a vote of confidence be and is hereby also passed on the leadership of Hon Sunday Bisi led State Executive Committee of the PDPin Osun.

“That no vacancy exists in the office of the Chairman of Osun PDP warranting the purported nomination/appointment of Hon. Wale Ojo or any other person as the Chairman of Osun PDP in any capacity.

“That the SEC of Osun PDP has not at anytime sat to declare any vacancy in the Chairmanship seat of Osun PDP since assumption of office of Hon Sunday Bisi and at no time did the SEC sit to relocate the Party Secretariat from Biket Junction, beside Road Safety office, Ikirun road, Osogbo which is the officially recognized Osun PDP Secretariat registered with INEC and the National Headquarters of the PDP.

“That the recent move of the Adagunodo loyalists within Osun PDP so as to destabilize the Party at this time that Osun PDP is enjoying relative peace be and is hereby condemned in absolute terms

“That the SEC also condemn the action of Hon Soji Adagunodo who took the Party to Court without exhausting domestic remedies as providedfor by the Party ‘s Constitution and still surreptitiously pursed the case even after his assumption of office as the Southwest chairman of the Party.

“That all leaders of the Party, relevant stakeholders, loyal party members in Osun PDP, especially Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola should rise to the occasion, speak with one voice, to rescue the Party from and condemn the anti-party activities of the Adagunodo loyalists in Osun PDP.

“That the National Working Committee of the PDP led by Dr. Iyorchia Ayu be and is hereby called upon to warn the Adagunodo loyalists and that the NWC should not spare the rod in dealing with the anti-party activities of the Adagunodo loyalists within Osun PDP.

“That the report of Osun PDP Disciplinary Committee set-up by the SEC which investigated and made recommendations with respect to the anti-party activities of the following persons namely, Barr. Wale Ojo (Vice Chairman Osun East), Alh Remi Arogundade( State financial Secretary), Mr Lase Longe(State Assistant Organizing Secretary), Chief Sanmi Ogunyemi (Ex-Officio), Mr Fadehan Marcus( Ex-Officio), Mr Yemi Adepoju(State Assistant Secretary), Hon Isaac Durojaye (Ife East Local Government Chairman) which was submitted on the 13th day of August, 2021 be and is hereby adopted.

”The report of the Osun PDP Disciplinary Committee recommending the removal of the Barr wale Ojo ( Vice Chairman Osun East) and Alh. Remi arogundade (State Financial Secretary) as members of SWC/SEC and their immediate replacement,” the opposition party stated.
