The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced a meeting with the executives of the party across all wards in the Ede Federal Constituency of the state for mobilization for candidates in preparation for the 2022 governorship election, AMILOADED reports.
The meeting hosted by Hon. Ayodele David Asalu began at the country home of late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke as it coincided with training and empowerment program facilitated by Hon. Asalu for farmers across all local governments.
The training and empowerment program, which was done in partnership with Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service, was aimed at boosting businesses and to ensure food security in Osun State and Nigeria at large.
No fewer than 200 persons were, however, trained and given grants during the program.
Speaking on the development, Hon. Asalu stressed the need to ensure economy of people at the grassroots is improved, adding that the current administration at the federal level has made things difficult for Nigerians.
While speaking on chances of Senator Ademola Adeleke, Asalu stated that “the problems created by present administration are enormous and these are what Senator Ademola Adeleke is coming to correct. Look at the local government structure alone, it has been collapsed. A Chairman that will be six months in few days can’t point to any achievement in his name.
“We know how it was during the PDP era. Local government was vibrant and fully autonomous. By 2022, Ademola Adeleke will be our Governor and a performing Governor at that,” he added.
On his part, a former Osun lawmaker, George Alabi, commended Asalu for always having people of the federal constituency at heart, even while holding no political appointment
Also speaking, one of the beneficiaries from Ejigbo Local Government, Mr Sangolade Kehinde, expressed his appreciation to Hon. Asalu, saying the empowerment and grants facilitated by members of the PDP have transform lives of many individuals in the constituency
“I really appreciate the gesture of Hon. Asalu. This will surely help my business. Empowerment by members of PDP have helped my people in Osun State to achieve their dreams. I’m happy for what I got here today,” he said.
