Rainstorm Wreaks Havoc In ERINMO IJESA, Render Hundreds Homeless,Destroys Over 52 Houses

Hundreds of residents of Erinmo Ijesa in Oriade Local government area of Osun State have been rendered homeless as rainstorm destroyed several residential houses, places of worship, palace and  household consumables, leaving the entire town without electricity for the last 24hours.

The torrential pour which started about 5pm on Sunday evening destroyed many residential buildings with the displaced now having no roof to cover their heads.

The  rainstorm accompanied by heavy wind did not spare sections of the palace,Erinmo Civic Center roof, churches, shopping complex ,Elerinmo’s residence entire fence, electricity poles and cables,Erinmo large billboard among others, where property worth millions of naira were completely destroyed.

This was disclosed by Oba( Dr) Michael Odunayo Ajayi. Arowotawaya the second, the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesa after an on the spot physical assessment round the town.

Oba Ajayi, highlighted some of the  areas badly hit in the town as

Temidire, Oke Ode, Odo Oja, Odi Olowo,Ogbon Idimi and Imogun.

While expressing sadness about the damages caused by the storm,Oba Arowotawaya was particularly happy and thankful to God that no life was lost.

The traditional ruler appealed to the state government of Osun, Emergency relief agencies, public spirited individuals and organisations to come to the aid of the ancient town and its people.
