Popular Osun Broadcaster, Olatunbosun Abe ‘Hin Pele O’ Is Dead

Popular Osun broadcaster, Otunba Olatunbosun Abe also known as ‘Hin pele O international has died after a short Illness, AMILOADED reports.

AMILOADED gathered that the prominent elder closed his eyes in death this morning (Sunday) at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital Osogbo (formerly LAUTECH Teaching Hospital) after a brief illness at the age of 69.

Hinpele o worked for more than 30 years across many local radio stations, and more recently at Gold Fm.

He has been praised for his positivity and kindness in tributes on social media.

“This is such sad news,” Hinpele o lovers on social media said. “The most positive, warm and encouraging person. Pleased that our paths crossed and devastated that he has been taken from us. Sometimes life just isn’t far.”

“Hinpele o was a great broadcaster and a brilliant man. He loved sport and radio so had the perfect job,” said radio sports news editor.

“You could hear the excitement in his voice when he was doing Hinpele O program on air. He had a long and successful career at the Gold Fm – 30 years at many of our local radio stations, and for the past 10 of those years he also worked for Gold Fm.

“He will be much missed by his colleagues and listeners to Gold Fm radio. Our thoughts are with his family at this terrible time.”

The Chairman of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) Osun state chapter, Otunba Adekunle Abolade Dodoede also confirmed the incident to AMILOADED.

He said the broadcaster gave up the ghost this morning after sickness.

Commiserating with the family of Late Abe, and with media professionals in the State, especially management and Staff of Gold F.M, the Osun State government described his demise as an irreparable loss

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, Osun government described Abe as a great and brilliant broadcaster whose demeanor on air was such a great delight to the good people of the State.

The statement read in part: “The Government of the State of Osun wishes to commiserate with the management and staff of Gold F.M., and indeed the entire body of media professionals in the State over the passage of Otunba Olatunbosun Abe (Hinpele O), one of the very popular radio presenters in the State and a strong voice for the Ijesha people in the media.

“With over 30 years of exciting contributions to the media profession, Otunba Abe was a great and brilliant broadcaster whose demeanor on air was such a delight to the good people of Osun. The huge impression he made through his “Hinpele o” programme on air was one that wouldn’t be forgotten in a hurry.

“Testimonies and tributes already reeling out on social media by “Hinpele o” lovers give credence to such great impact that Otunba Abe was.

“Before closing his eyes in death at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital Osogbo (formerly LAUTECH Teaching Hospital) at the age of 69, Otunba Abe freelanced in mostly all the radio and television stations in Osun. He was one of the respected elders of the Osun State Chapter of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN).

“The Government of the State of Osun is pained by the loss of not just one of its sons but also one of its finest professionals in the media industry.

“The government expresses its condolences to the family of the deceased, to the entirety of the media family in Osun state and in Nigeria as a whole, and to the management and staff of Gold F.M. and prays that God grants Otunba Abe’s family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss”, the statement read.
