Two outstanding teams from the Osun Central Senatorial District, Ifelodun and Orolu will on Friday, October 1, 2021, lock horns in one of the quarter final fixtures of the ongoing Osun Sports Festival, AMILOADED reports.
Tutored by Coach Zakariyau Lawal, the “Eweta Arsenal” will play “Benson’s Boys” under a veteran grassroots coach, Gbadegesin Akeem popularly known as ‘Egun’ at the EbunoluwaInternational School, Osogbo.
The match, AMILOADED reports, would be a cracker of a game looking at the pedigree of the two teams in the state.
In other fixtures, Boripe, who led group C during the zonal elimination will, at the Iloko Model School, Iloko Ijesha, tackles with Ife East who finished second in group A.
Odo Otin Grammar School, Okuku is the battleground of another senatorial derby as Ejigbo who emerged winners of group D will face Irewole, the Group B’s runners up.
The last quarter final match to be decided at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife pairs Odo Otin, which finished second in Group D against Ilesha West who picked the summit ticket of Group B.
The matches are expected to kick off 2pm on Friday at the four venues with winners progressing to the Semi Finals slated for Monday, October 4, 2021.
Speaking, the Director of Sports, Mr. Layi Adesiyan, who appreciated the spirit of sportsmanship put up by all teams during the preliminary round, assured of further technical and administrative strategies that will guarantee peaceful conduct at all centres during the quarter finals to the final.
“We never relaxed in our administrative and technical strategies which resulted into peaceful conduct of teams at all centres during the zonal elimination. This will continue till the final to make the competition a memorable one,” he said.
