Osun Govt Commences Refund Of 2020, 2021 Hajj Fares To Intending Pilgrims, Reveals Amount Disbursed

Osun State Government has commenced the refund of 2020 and 2021 Hajj fares to intending Pilgrims that applied before the cancellation of exercise, AMILOADED reports.

This was made known by the Osun State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal, while speaking to newsmen in his office on Tuesday.

According to the Commissioner, the state government has refunded a total of one hundred and twenty-eight (128) intending Pilgrims as at Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

Lawal, while giving a breakdown, explained that N4.6 million will be disbursed to four Intending Pilgrims on Tuesday (today), adding that a sum of N23.2 million was refunded to 16 Pilgrims on the August 2, 2021.

The Commissioner further disclosed that another N11.7 million was disbursed to another batch of eight intending Pilgrims on July 22, 2021 while a total of 11 intending Pilgrims collected a total sum of N15.5 million on July 12, 2021.

Lawal added that N30.9 million was disbursed to 22 intending Pilgrims on July 5, 2021while another N50.4 million was also disbursed to 36 Intending Pilgrims on June 29, 2021.

The Commissioner further disclosed that a sum of N43.1 million was released to 31 intending Pilgrims on June 22, 2021 when the refund exercise commenced.

On his part, the Administrative Secretary, Mr. Bolaji Sanni, said all intending Pilgrims that applied were refunded their full deposits without any deductions by the Osun State Government.

He, however, urged the intending Pilgrims who are willing to collect their deposits to apply at the Board’s office as directed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and follow the normal official procedures outlined for the exercise.

Sanni further stated that the 2022 Hajj Exercise will be based on first come, first served policy.

Also present at the interview was the Accountant of the Board, Alhaji Wale Adegbite, among others.
