68-Year-Old Lecturer, One Other Land In Court For Defiling Underage Girls

The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arraigned a 68-year old lecturer, Dr Ajelere Ajewumi, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.

The command also arraigned another 60-year-old, Kayode Akinsile, for alleged defilement of another minor.

The Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, Michael Adaralewa, said this in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in Oyo State, Oluwole Olusegun, on Thursday.

The PRO said Ajewumi “is a lecturer, a PhD holder.”

The NSCDC PRO said a Chief Magistrate, P. O. Adetoyibo. of Family Court 2, Iyaganku, Ibadan, remanded the two accused in prison till September.

The commandant said the two suspects were arraigned after forensic examination and thorough investigation were carried out.

The statement read, “The two suspects were charged to court by Anti-Human trafficking and Child Protection Unit and they had been remanded at Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo.

“The first suspect, Kayode Akinsile, 60, of Alafara Ona Ara, Ibadan, was first arrested on June 15, 2021, and was granted bail but defiled another minor and was rearrested on 7th July, 2021.

“The second suspect Dr.Ajelere Ajewumi, 68, from Oki Olodo, Ibadan, was arrested for illegal adoption and defilement of a 14-year-old girl.”
