An aide to the Governor of Osun State, Honourable Idiat Babalola who was on Monday attacked by angry youths at the burial of the first Civilian Governor of Osun, Senator Isiaka Adeleke in Ede, explained the reason behind the hostile behavior.
Babalola told Amiloaded that she was attacked under the speculation that she could be the next Deputy Governor of the State.
Explaining further, Babalola, who served in the last cabinet as Special Adviser to the Governor on Federal Matters, said her attackers could not have been acting over anything against Governor Aregbesola but simply on the local politics of Ede, where she also hails from just as the late Senator Adeleke.
“I am a proud daughter of Ede and Uncle Isiaka has been a mentor and we never had any disagreement till the news of hus death “

“We worked together with Uncle for the re-election of Governor Aregbesola in 2014 and for his own election into the Senate in 2015.
“Those who masterminded the attacks on me are people with poor understanding of the relationship between us and who act based on their own political permutations only,” Babalola said .
She explained that she was at the burial in company with her father, Chief SOB Babalola, a prominent industrialist who is also a friend to the later father of now late Senator Adeleke

Hon. Idiat explained that she was in Lagos when she got the sad news of Adeleke’s death and that was why she had to abandoned all she had to do to be able to attend his final rites based on the cordial relationship between them but was maltreated by some misinformed youths of Ede.
She explained that she started noticing malice when some youths were grunting about the caretaker committee members list being full of her loyalists and having less names of the late Adeleke’s loyalists before the youths went as wild as removing canopies on the high profile dignitaries.
Babalola however expressed how the misconduct robbed Ede people of the befitting burial that the late political giant deserved. She also urged youths to be peaceful always in their conducts and ask polite questions where needed instead of false accusations.
