The Minority Leader of Osun State House of Assembly and the honourable representing Ife East State Constituency Hon. Akinwale Akinwole has fumed against the action of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akinolu to Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, described it as uncivilized and uncultured.
He made this known while speaking with newsmen in Ile-Ife on Wednesday afternoon. He said “The action of Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu by snubbing His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II (Ooni of Ife) at an event recently is not only uncivilized, uncultured, but condemnable and a great disservice to the throne of his fore-fathers(if he is indeed he is a blue blood).”
He further stress that “Its time to begin scrutinize whoever will be enthrone to the position of a monarch in Yoruba Land and in fact other tribes, must be well cultured, possesses good characters and qualities worthy of emulation by the people he aspires to rule. But unfortunately, the action of Oba Akinolu to Ooni of Ife and many others show that he possesses none.”
“It is expected of Oba Akinolu to complements the efforts of the Ooni of Ife in preaching Peace and Harmony among the tribes in Yoruba Land and beyond but unfortunately the controversial monarch is using his stool in faning the ember of discord among tribes in Nigeria as a whole. This is the same monarch who made reckless statement towards the 2015 Gubernatorial Election in Lagos by threatened the Igbos in Lagos to throw them into lagoon if they fail to elect a particular candidate at the poll. All these are not expected of any Monarch no matter the situation.”
He argued that “In no way or circumstances, can the stool of Ooni be as low in hierarchy with that of the throne he represents. So Oba Akiolu should not see Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi as just an ordinary being but as Oba of all Obas because his stool represents the cradle of Yoruba race.”.
