The Federal Road Maintenance Agency, on Tuesday, commenced full rehabilitation of the road linking ancient towns of Ejigbo, Aato, Iragberi, Awo and other villages in Ede Federal Constituency of Osun State with equipment already moved to site, AMILOADED reports.
The road rehabilitation, being an integral part of projects lined up for execution by the Lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Bamidele Salam, took off on Tuesday morning at the Iwo-Ibadan end of the road, after several efforts of the Lawmaker at securing presidency’s attention and that of ministry of works to the importance of the long neglected road to the economy wellbeing of the state, especially residents of the area.
House of Rep member, Bamidele Salam, had at various times, taken his lobby and campaign for rehabilitation of the road to the presidency, where he held meetings with the vice president of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and Babatunde Raji Fasola headed Ministry of Works.
Flagging off the rehabilitation work, the Federal Road Maintenance Agency in Osun State headed by Engr Bamidele Fasoranti, assured community leaders in the area of an enduring job which will put paid to incessant damage to critical portions of the road.
Addressing people at the flag off ceremony, Bamidele Salam, who spoke through his Legislative Aide, Barrister Akintayo Jimoh, thanked the federal ministry of works through FERMA for complimenting his efforts at bringing a definite end to the untold pains residents of Awo, Iragberi, Aato, Ejigbo and other adjoining communities have been facing on the road for several decades just as he was full of praises for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for his fatherly role in bringing the project to fruition.
Two notable community leaders at the event, Pa Jogunade Olaonipekun and Alhaji Misbaudeen Akinola, expressed joy that Representative Bamidele Salam was eventually able to break the age long jinx of neglect the road has suffered.
The rehabilitation according to them, would ease pressure on other alternate routes in the area as farmers and other prospective users of the road would have no problem transporting their farm produce and other services to other parts of the state.
At the flag off were aides of Representative Bamidele Salam led by his Senior Legislative Aide, Barrister Akintayo Jimoh, PDP Party chairmen in the four local governments of the federal constituency, the Olu of Gbamila, Oba Lamidi Yusuf, Balogun of Awo, Chief Dauda Babalola, Jagun of Awo, Alhaji Saka Adesola and Alhaji Lateef Adebayo who is the Babakekere of Awo.
Also at the flag off to show enthusiastic support to the project were the chairman, Iragberi Development Council, Alhaji Misbaudeen Akinola, prominent PDP leader in Egbedore local government, Pa Jogunade Olaonipekun, Egbedore Local Government PDP Women and Youths Leaders, Alhaja Rashidat Yusuf and Mr Biola Aderinto respectively and other residents of the communities too numerous to mention.
