An Osun based youth organization, Arise and Impact Nigerian Youths Initiative has called for peace before, during and after the senate by-election coming this Saturday, 8th of July, 2017.
The Executive Director of the organization, Yusuff Ola-Gold, Mutalub while briefing the newsmen after a Peace rally that took place at Iwo, the headquarters of Osun West Senatorial District enjoin all citizens of the district and most importantly youths to shun political brigadage and any activities that may lead to destruction of relative peace the state has been enjoying.
Yusuff who is also the coordinator of the amalgamated groups who have been sensitizing the general public on the need for peaceful election advised all Osun West citizens to be law abiding before, during and after election. He also admonished all registered voters to go out and vote for the candidate of their choice without any intimidation.
“It is your right to vote. Another opportunity has presented itself before us to choose our representative. Let’s all go out enmass and vote for the candidate of our choice. We must strive to promote peace and harmony during this election. We don’t want to record any disorderliness or violence. Vote and go back to your house in peace”
Also speaking to the journalists during the briefing, the national convener, Iwo Collectives , Com Akin Gofment Asifat has called on Osun West Youths to shun violence and avoid being a tools in the hands of desperate politicians who are power mongers. While encouraging every eligible voters to exercise their constitution right by voting for the candidates of their choice, he emphasis the need for a peaceful election.
A good number of volunteers have been over the last one week sensitizing the general public and youths in Osun West on a violence free election. The group have visited major towns in Osun West and hold their final Peace Rally in Iwo, the headquarters of Osun West Senatorial District. This coming election must not cause any crisis. Osun West can only witness meaningful development in the presence of peace.
