Court Remands Suspected Ritualists For Killing Uniosun Student

Three suspected ritualists arrested in connection with the murder of a student of Osun State University, (Uniosun), Soonibare Timileyin have been remanded in prison custody by an Osogbo magistrate court.

The suspected ritualistic are; Sakariyau Abdulrofiu(19), Yusuf Kareem (18) and Ayuba Ibrahim (24).

Presiding Magistrate, Mrs A. O Oloyaade who gave the order said the accused should be kept in behind the bar due to the criminal nature of the offense committed.

Police prosecutor, Abass Aruna had told the court that the Abdulrofiu, Kazeem,  Ibrahim and one Yahaya who is currently at large conspired and unlawfully killed Timileyin, a 400 level of Microbiology from the Osun State University.

Aruna further explained that the accused committed the crime on June 26, 2017, at Oke-Baale area of Osogbo at around 7:30pm.

According to him the accused “did unlawfully kill one Timilehin Oluwafemi Sonibare by hitting him  With a pestle on his head and “did improperly and indecently interferes with a dead human body by cutting off the head, hands and other part of the deceased.”

The offence according to the prosecutor was contrary to and punishable under Section 324, 319 (1)  and 242 (1) (b)  of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

However, the plea of the accused was not take.

Handling down her ruling, Magistrate Oloyaade ordered the suspects be remanded in custody at Ilesa prison and adjourned the case till September 25, 2017, for mention.
