The Osun State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed that a 100-level Theatre Art Student of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Ikire campus, Juba Babatunde Philips was found dead after committing suicide.
AMILOADED gathered that the deceased was found dead in his hostel room by a friend on Tuesday’s.
He had posted two posts on his WhatsApp status. One was about the hardship he has survived and the other was him wondering why people commit suicide.
According to reports, he had posted a cryptic message on his WhatsApp status about suicide which prompted his friend to rush to the hostel to check on him only to find him dead and next to him was a bottle allegedly containing a poisonous substance.
Confirming the incident, the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Opalola Yemisi said: “About 1905 hrs, the CSO of UNIOSUN Ikire campus, Akintibubo Rahmon Tunde reported the case.
“The deceased was met lying unconscious in front of his hotel after taking a bottle if sniper. He was later confirmed deaf by doctor.
“The empty bottle of the snipper was recovered as exhibit. The deceased was taken to Catholic Hospital Oluyoro Apomu and was deposited in the hospital morgue for autopsy.”
