The six suspects standing trial over with the kidnapped of Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold’s Twins on Monday arraigned again before an Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan.
The accused persons are Muhammed Bashir,33; Fatai Akanji; Oyeleye Opeyemi,25; Olamide Ajala,36; Rafiu Mutiu, 36 and Taiwo Ridwan, 30.
The suspects are facing three counts of conspiracy, kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms.
The suspects were initially arraigned at the Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court on September 7 and the court ordered that they be remanded at the correctional centre before transferring the case to the High Court in Ibadan for fresh arraignment.
At the hearing of the case on Monday, the state prosecuting counsel, Miss Margaret Ojo, said the case was slated for the arraignment of the suspects but the arraignment could not go on because the suspects were not brought to court from the correctional centre.
Counsels for the accused persons informed the court that they had filed bail applications in respect of their clients.
The defence counsel, Uwawah Oritshuwa, told the court that their bail applications were filed on October 14 and November 9
They urged the court to allow them to move the bail applications.
The prosecuting counsel prayed the court for an adjournment to enable her to respond to the bail application filed by the defendants’ counsels.
The presiding judge, Justice Mashud Abass, adjourned the case till November 18 for arraignment and definite hearing of the bail application.
