Osun State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) has inaugurated Special Weapon and Tactics Unit (SWAT).
Amiloaded gathered this through a statement released by the Head of Public Relations, Babawale Afolabi who said it is the first of its kind and it is in line with International standards.
The statement emphasized that the essence of creating a new Unit called SWAT is to fight the menace of criminals in the Society and also compliment the efforts of Nigerian Army in overcoming terrorism in Nigeria, especially in the North East.
It was also added that the Officers were trained to protect very important personalities as spelt out in NSCDC ACT, and also protect visiting dignitaries including rescue mission involving endangered citizens in our society.
The SWAT Commander, NHQ, Tajudeen Balogun enjoined the newly commissioned Officers to utilize the knowledge acquired during the training to ensure that they discharge their duty accordingly.
Also, Jegede M. O who represented the security Adviser onbehalf of the State Governor advised the corps to be decent in their operations to overcome Crimes in the society.
