A combined team of Amotekun corps and the Nigeria police in Osun have intercepted six illegal immigrants from Niger state, North central Nigeria, after sneaking into the state.
In defiance with the total lockdown orders by the federal and state governments, the illegal immigrants had attempted to visit a resident of the state in Igbajo before they were nabbed.
Some residents were said to have alerted the security agencies before they were intercepted and sent back to Niger state.
The six arrested immigrants are Adamu Ibrahim, Muhammadu Kabiru, Rufai Abdullahi, Sagiru Sanni, Muhammad Muritala, Idris Musa.
Their host, one Olawale Ibrahim, it was learnt, is well known in Igbajo, as he has been living there for about three decades, before the other six came as his guests in defiance of the lockdown order.
AMILOADED gathered that they entered the community around 7:00pm before the people of the town alerted the chairman, Boluwaduro local government, who in turn, called the Director General, Amotekun, of the state, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, and the DPO of the area; who jointly coordinated the operation.
The police had earlier arrested and detained the illegal immigrants in isolation till the next morning, when the Amotekun team got there, in company of health officials, so as to conduct test on them to know the level of their temperature.
Amotekun, in collaboration with police, then led the six persons to Osun-Kwara boundary through Ila-odo and handed them over to a vehicle going to the North.
The chairman, Boluwaduro local government thereafter gave the seven guys some amount of money, through Amotekun corps, to take care of their feeding.
They were quoted as even complaining that the money was not enough.
