Police Drag Man To Court For Alleged Phone Theft In Osun

The Osun state Police Command, Thursday, dragged a 42-year-old man, Aderanti Akinola, before a Magistrate’s Court in Ile-Ife, for alleged phone theft.

Akinola was alleged to have stolen Tecno Spark 4 phone, valued N35,000, property of one Akinkunmi Ayodele.

The Prosecutor, Ona Glory, told the court that the man committed the purported crime on April 7, 2020 around 3:00am at King and Rose Hotel area, Modakeke-Ife.

He said that the accused stole one big generator and Laptop, valued N145,000, property of one Adesoji Babalola.

The defendant was also alleged to have stolen cash sum of 10,000 that belonged to Ogodolu Kayode.

According to the charge sheet, the crime was contrary to sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun state, 2002.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to four-count charges bothering on stealing preferred against him by the police.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Samson Adegoke, urged the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal term, promising that he would stand his trial.

Magistrate Joseph Owolawi, thereby granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned to June 2, 2020 for mentioning.
