The All Progressive Congress (APC) aspirant for the 2018 governorship election, Benedict Olugboyega Alabi posited that the role of a woman is as important as that of man.
He said this when he was delivering a lecture on the topic titled “The Role of Woman in Nation Building” organised by National Association of Women Journalist(NAWOJ) Osun State chapter on Tuesday.
He said” the female citizens are regarded more or less as second class citizen thereby preferring the male children to the female children which also affect in their education.
“When the females’ education are limited the male children are given better chance of furthering their education to higher level”
He further explained that their are some women who fought like men such as Mrs Funmilola Ransom kuti who ventured into politics and campaigned against colonial rule and another woman who was a Liberian Sere Enrijohn wrote a political protest for more than a decade and then became the first female Head of State in Africa.
He advised that females citizens role should not be limited to traditional roles of house keeping and child bearing but to also goes into politics and parents should make sure that they sponsor their female child to their desired level.
He urged the people to vote for him as the next governor of Osun State and promised that he will create more more than enough space for the female in his cabinet.
Earlier, the NUJ chairman of Osun state, Comrade Olalere Abiodun encouraged every women and the female students School to be a politician.
Commending the organisers of the programme, Olalere said such a programme would help in boosting female children in their educational pursuit.
Speaking , the National auditor of NAWOJ, Mrs Olushola Jacob emphasized on the roles of the women in the development of any society saying no fewer than 50 females were elected as councillors in the just conducted local government election in Osun.
