Just In: Osun Reps Member, Bamidele Salam Appointed Committee Member of ECOWAS Parliament

 

Hon. Bamidele Salam, representing Ede North/ Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency in Osun State has been appointed into the ECOWAS Parliament Standing Committee on Political Affairs, Peace, Security and African Peer Review Mechanism.

 

AMILOADED gathered that the 10-Member Committee will among other things be responsible for matters relating to Regional Peace, Stability, Security, Cooperation for Conflict Prevention and peacekeeping operations by seeking to promote and strengthen good neighborliness. 

 

It was also learnt the committee will also follow up on the status of implementation of Community Texts on peace, security, democracy and good governance, while it will also engage in the Promotion and Consolidation of a democratic system of governance in each Member State as envisaged by ECOWAS declaration of Political Principles adopted in Abuja on July 6, 1991.

 

This appointment comes after the inauguration of the 5th ECOWAS Parliament held in Niamey, Republic of Niger.
