Gov. Aregbesola Swears-In 389 Councillors, tasks Them on Revenue Generation

The governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has sworn-in the newly elected 389 councillors in the local councils of the state and asked them to ensure that they generate revenue in the areas.

Addressing the local council executives after the oath of office was administered on them by the Chief Judge of the state on Tuesday at the premises of the Governor’s Office, Governor Aregbesola said the people of the state prefer a parliamentary system of government to any other system.

Gov. Aregbesola said “parliamentary system is more democratic because those in the parliament take decisions collectively.”

He further explained that the parliament is a democratic government and the desire of the people is democracy.

The governor urged the councillors to make sure that their different constituencies are kept clean always and make sure that there is a place where the refuses collected from home and surrounding are disposed.

“You must be able to generate revenue by yourselves to finance the councils because without revenue, there is no government.

“You must be able to generate revenue from taxable adults and business people. We might need you to generate revenue for us in the state but you must be sensitive to be able to generate the revenue.

” You must take your election serious and see it as an opportunity to serve the people. Listen to the party order in other to make your tenure huge successes. I also commend the OSIEC for their diligence, fairness and intelligence in the recently conducted election,” Aregbesola said.
