OAU Student, Lawal Sodiq Emerges As NANS Southwest Director Of Media

A part II student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife studying English/Religious Studies, Mr. Lawal Sodiq has emerged as the Director of Media and Publicity of National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest.

His emergence came into existence in an appointment letter signed by the Coordinator of the NANS Southwest, Comrade Kappo Samuel and made available to our correspondent on Thursday’s evening.

According to the appointment letter dated on 4th March, 2020, “…We humbly write to inform you, Comrade Lawal Sodiq from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife of your appointment as Director of Media and Publicity of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest (Zone D).

” We are hopeful of your best contribution to the success of the team “UNASSAILABLE EMANCIPATION OF NEW POSSIBILITIES Agenda. Accept Congratulations our hearty.”

However, in an acceptance speech by the new Director of Media and Publicity, he promised to create a media hub that will give adequate attention and coverage to events affecting directly or indirectly to the life of Nigerian students.

According to the acceptance speech, “……….I am deeply honoured to become the Director of Media and Publicity of NANS ZONE D. To whom much is given, much is expected, therefore I am inspired to take on greater responsibilities.

“I have carefully mapped out plans to bring to limelight the factors and problems militating against the welfare of Nigerian Students. In lieu of such, there shall be a media hub for Nigerian students. A website named “dailydigest.com.ng” shall be created.

“Dailydigest.com.ng will be an online and print medium that will broadcast news happening across all Nigerian institutions.

“While the online medium will be updated daily the print medium which will be in form of ‘Newsletter ‘ shall be published monthly. I have set up a team of highly skilled technocrats that will be working with me. However, you can always refer an individual of high competence to me that will impact the team positively.

“Meanwhile, Daily Digest, a publication of Dtruth PR Media, shall be a mouthpiece for underreported student achievers and events in Nigeria which are yet to gain prominence in the mainstream media.

“My mission therefore, is to give adequate media attention and coverage to all people, especially events affecting directly or indirectly the life of Nigerian students.

“We shall be fair to all persons, irrespective of their ideologies, as long as that promotes the image, peace and unity of Nigerian students. Not only that, We shall also uphold the ethical standards of journalism.

“I hereby seek for your total support in promoting the media hub. Thanks so much. May the spirit of Aluta continue to be with you all. May The Almighty God grant us success in our endeavours. “
