For providing electricity for the residents of his council, the Chairman of Orolu Local Government Area of Osun State, Hon Adekunle Benson has been commended by the traditional ruler of the area, Olufon of Ifon -Orolu Kingdom, Oba Almaroof Adekunle Magbagbeola.
The monarch said Benson made frantic efforts at ensuring that electricity was restored to every home in the area.
Speaking in his palace on Monday, during a stakeholders’ meeting with government officials, the traditional ruler disclosed that Hon Benson led administration has completed the first phase of electrification projects in five different communities in Ifon Osun area of the council.
He assured Benson of residents’ cooperation in his efforts to develop communities within the local government.
While speaking, Orolu Council boss, Hon Adekunle Benson said his administration knows the importance of electricity to these isolated communities in Ifon and how the lingering power failure has negatively affected their businesses and social life.
Stressing that the electrification Projects are necessary in order to ameliorate the suffering of the people of the areas, Benson said that some Communities have been living in darkness for several years.
The chairman, therefore called on the people of Orolu to be resolute in their support and join hands with the present administration as they did during the first phase to make the second phase of the project a successful one.
According to the council boss, “we have done electrification projects in Ifon Tuntun, Akinola, Ilupeju, Ire Akari phase 1 and phase 2, we have also received several letters from different Communities requesting for either electrification projects, boreholes, road grading among others”.
“This administration has also completed High Court of Justice Complex, 13 borehole, 10 low cost housing units of 2 bedroom family apartment and many others that are ready for commissioning”
The council boss stated that 95 per cent of the request letters received had been studied and approved, adding that in no distant time, work will commence on them.
While speaking, one of the residents of Akinola Community, Mr Olanipekun Akeem eulogized the council boss, hon Adekunle Benson for his commitment and magnanimity to development of Orolu and the residents in terms of finding solution to the yarning of the people.
He said before the electrification projects were carried out, in Akinola Community, not less than 10 goats had been electrocuted as eletric wires hanging on little trees in the bush and whenever goats went there for grazing, they got electrocuted. Residents also had experienced series of eletric shock whenever they touched little trees along the road.
Olanipekun therefore enjoined people of Orolu to give their unalloyed support to the APC led government in the state of Osun for us to continue witnessing progressive developmental projects.
