Bisi Akande Heads APC Reconstituted 12-Member Reconciliation Committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reconstituted the National Reconciliation Committee saddled with the responsibility of reconciling all aggrieved members of the party across the country.

 

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu who announced the reconstitution of the committee said the new committee which will now be headed by the first National Chairman of the party; Chief Bisi Akande will be inaugurated on Tuesday.

 

The National Reconciliation Committee set up in accordance with the directive of the National Executive Committee of the party was to be chaired by President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan, but was never inaugurated.

 

Edo state governor had rejected the committee saying the National Chairman; Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who is party to the crisis in the state cannot constitute a committee to reconcile aggrieved members in the state.

 

The statement said “President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reviewed the membership of the party’s National Reconciliation Committee.

 

“The Committee is empowered to address grievances of party members across the country and resolve existing conflicts, all with a view to fostering oneness, strengthen the party for better governance and ensure unity of purpose within the party.”

 

The 12-member committee has the following as Chief Bisi Akande as Chairman, while Senator John Enoh is to serve as secretary.

 

Other members include the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello, Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, Senate Leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase and former Nasarawa state governor, Sen. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

 

The members also include former Borno state governor, Sen. Kashim Shettima, Minister of State for Environment, Sharon Ikeazor, Alh. Nasiru Aliko Koki, Sen. Khairat Gwadabe-Abdulrazak and Sen. Binta Garba.
