JUST IN: Man Bags 13 years Jail Term For Possessing Human Head For Rituals In Osun

An Osun State High Court presided over by Honourable Justice Kudirat Akano on Friday convicted and sentenced a man, Moshood Babatunde to 13 years imprisonment for unlawful possession of human head.

The convict was arraigned on four count-charge bearing on conspiracy to commit unlawful possession of human head and other human part Contrary to Sections 516, 242(1)(b) 329A(1) and 242 (b) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap.34, Volume. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

Babatunde was arrested on 13 October, 2011 and the case was reported at Oke-Odo Police Station, Osogbo, from where the case was transferred to State SCID, osogbo, Osun State.

The Prosecution team from the ministry of Justice led by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Dr. Ajibola Basiru who appeared along with the Principal State Counsel Matthew Adedokun had called three withnesses and also tendered nine exhibits before the Court.

The accused person was represented by a counsel, M.O Olufemi.

In his judgement, Justice Akano stated that the prosecution counsel proved  the case beyond reasonable doubt.

Akano found the accuses persons guilty and convicted them accordingly. He sentenced the accused to seven years imprisonment on the first count: unlawful possession of human head.

On count two, the convict bagged two years imprisonment for improperly and indecent interfernece with the corpse.

The convict was sentences to two years imprisonment for intent to sell or use the human part for charms on the last count. The judge ruled that the sentence should rum concurrently.
