Former Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Lagos State, Comrade Ayodele Adeleke has pledged his support to provide automatic employment to best three overall graduating students of Public Administration Department, Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State.
Ayodele made the pledge on Friday during a public lecture organized by the National Association of Public Administration, Obafemi Awolowo University Students Chapter.
Ayodele who spoke on the topic titled “21st Century Democratic Governance: The Inevitable Roles of Administrators” said he would not relent in his ambition in giving back to the society, especially to students who have chosen to be of good character and have exhibited high level of discipline while in school.
He stressed further that criteria that will be used to select qualified students will include a good character assessment, excellent academic results (1st class or 2nd class upper distinction) and a letter of endorsement which must be duly approved by the Vice Chancellor.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Eyitope Ogungbenro expressed delight over the kind gesture of Com. Ayodele, adding that the proposal is timely, and it will help encourage students to be more dedicated in their academic pursuits and future endeavours.
Highlight of the event was an award of excellence presented to Ayodele for his selfless and unprecedented kind gestures to the Department and whole institution in general
In his acceptance speech, Ayodele thanked the executives of the association for deeming him fit for the award, while promising to always use everything within his capacity to assist the Department at all levels.
Comrade Ayodele thereafter dedicated the award to Com. George Iwilade a.k.a Afrika, a 400l law student who was killed by cultist around 4:30am on July 10, 1999 while sleeping in his block 6 room at Awo hall of the University.
“At the time of his death in 1999, the late George Iwilade held a senior position in the student union hierarchy, he was the General Secretary of the Students’ Union Government at Obafemi Awolowo University; Comrade Lanre Adeleke a.k.a Lanre Legacy was President of OAU students union and Comrade Ayodele Adewale was President Lagos State University Students Union Government”.
