A former governor of Ekiti state and the incumbent minister of Steel in Nigeria, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has been declared winner of the All progressives Congress primary held in the state capital ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
After the voting that held peacefully, sorting and counting were done till late Saturday before the minister polled 941, thus flooring Mr. Segun Oni who got 454.
Kayode Ojo had 245, BAFEM got 171, Oluyede OluWole, 110, Gbenga Aluko 83, Fappy 23, Daramola Bimbo 29, Babafemi Ojudu 11, MOB. 11, Yaya Kolade 4, Ayo Arise 3 and Muyiwa Olumilua with 2 votes.
2,618 delegates put in for the primary election but 2,236 were accredited.
Fayemi is now the flag bearer of APC in the governorship election and would be slogging it out with the candidate of the ruling People’s Democratic Party in the state.
